Case type: Healthcare headquarters infrastructure and connectivity coordination
A headquarters transition required carrier handoffs, temporary network staging and internal switching to be aligned before the broader cutover. The risk was not bandwidth availability; it was uncertainty across carrier records, physical demarcation, labeling, ports and ownership.
The operating problem
Two carrier circuits required onsite identification and validation. Records pointed to different demarcation details, one circuit required an extension between telecommunications spaces, and a separately ordered service appeared under a wholesale carrier relationship. Equipment labels and the physical rack condition did not initially match the information supplied to the project team.
CompFlorida’s role
- Inspect the telecommunications room and compare the physical environment with carrier records.
- Validate handoffs and ports before patching into the temporary network path.
- Coordinate between internal IT, the network-health provider, incumbent carriers and field resources.
- Photograph and document rack conditions so discrepancies could be resolved without relying on verbal descriptions.
- Keep circuit readiness separate from the client’s internal switch activation and acceptance testing.
Dependencies managed
- Carrier tag-and-locate completion
- Accurate circuit and demarcation records
- Temporary patch-panel readiness
- Staged core-switch availability
- Onsite access and internal IT validation
- Escalation when reseller and underlying-carrier information conflicted
The result
The physical handoffs were located, connected and prepared for IP validation with the client’s internal technology team. Record conflicts were identified before final cutover, preventing the project from treating an unverified carrier handoff as a completed network service.
What this case demonstrates
Carrier delivery is not complete when an order status changes. A usable turn-up requires the physical handoff, labeling, patching, network configuration, responsible owners and acceptance evidence to agree.
